Pigeons have a very high reproductive rate, a pair can produce up to 10 chicks a year thus why these birds have become so populous around the world. Pigeons rear their young chicks on a diet of special protein and fat rich milk produced in a throat pouch called the crop. Aslong as the parents are fed, so are the chicks. Unlike most birds which rely on a limited range of food eg insects, worms, seeds and etc but pigeons eat almost anything humans toss in the trash. As a result of humans leaving left overs and crumbs of food everywhere like public parks, town squares and other trafficked areas pigeons dont have to hustle to avoid going to bed hungry.
